Mega Dens

Mega Dens are solo instances full of Mega Pokémon. Each one is opened with its Pokémon’s sealed Mega Stone: a sealed Gengarite, for example, opens the Mega Gengar Den. Clearing it gives you 1,000,000 XP and a chance at the Mega Stone, the stone you need for Mega Evolution.

36 Mega Dens

Level 350, solo

Up to 30 minutes

1,000,000 XP on clear

How it works

Say you want the Gengarite. You need a sealed Gengarite: with it you enter the Mega Gengar Den alone, your Pokémon is healed and you have up to 30 minutes to defeat its Mega Pokémon, usually 5 to 8 of them. If you clear it, you get 1,000,000 XP and a chance at the Gengarite. The sealed Gengarite is used up when you enter, whether you clear it or not.

Note: Do not mix them up with Dungeons: those are opened with an Arcane Shard and are about Shiny Pokémon.

Getting sealed Mega Stones

  • They drop in Hoenn hunts at Hazard 5 or higher: from Hazard 5 the Legendary group, and from Hazard 10 the Mythic group too. Shiny Pokémon drop them more often.

  • They are bought and sold on the Market.

  • To hunt in Hoenn you must have finished the Hoenn Access quest (from level 250).

How to enter

  1. Get the sealed Mega Stone of the Den you want.

  2. Go to the Mega Dens portal.

  3. In the Ruined Ascendant panel, pick the stone and press «Start Dungeon». The panel lists the sealed Mega Stones: the ones you do not have are grayed out, you can search by name, and «Show only available» leaves only yours. Before starting, it asks you to confirm which stone you are using.

  4. The stone is used up, your Pokémon is healed and you go in alone. Defeat the Mega Pokémon before time runs out.

The 36 Mega Dens

Each Den’s key is the sealed version of the Mega Stone it can give you. Some names are not obvious: Mega Sableye’s key is the sealed Sablenite, and Mega Altaria’s is the sealed Altarianite.

Mega or Stars

Mega Stones are Y-slot Held Items: the Pokémon holding one can Mega Evolve, unless it is Shiny. Also, a Poké Ball with Stars cannot take a Mega Stone, so before investing in a ball, decide whether it goes the Mega route or the Stars route.

Ruined Ascendant

Ruined Ascendant is the Mega Dens panel. Besides «Start Dungeon», it has «Convert Stones», which opens the «Convert Mega Stones» window:

  1. In «Your Stone», pick the stone you want to change.

  2. In «Convert To», pick the stone you want to get (it has to be a different one).

  3. Choose the amount: up to 100, or as many as you have if that is fewer. The Pokédólares cost is per stone, so it is multiplied by the amount; you see it before pressing «Convert».

The Mega Adventurer achievement in Achievements asks you to complete 1,000 Ruined Ascendant Missions and gives 50,000,000 XP.
