First steps

What to do in your first hours in PokeAlliance, in order: what to pick up as soon as you log in, where to heal and register your cities, how to catch, where to hunt for your level and the keys and commands you will use the most. Each part links to the page that explains it in full.

Free Starter Box

Common: level 1–150

Wildscape: from 150

Primal: from 350

When you first log in

  1. Open the top menu: move the mouse to the middle of the top of the screen and the button that opens it appears. From there you reach the Store, the Game Pass, the Hunt Finder and almost every window of the game.

  2. Pick up the Starter Box: in the Store, open the Diamond Store, Character category, and take it. It is free and there is one per character. It has 150 Revive, 250 Ultra Ball and 300 Medicine.

  3. If you want to start in another city, use the Moving Ticket you get when you create your account (a green ticket): it lets you choose a new hometown. If you already used it, you can buy another in the Store, Character category.

Pokémon Centers and cities

Every city has a Pokémon Center with its Nurse (Nurse Joy). Talk to her in every new city you reach: that registers it as a Teleport destination and, once you have VIP, you can go back instantly by typing h "city name in the chat (for example, h "saffron).

On the minimap, the Pokemon Center, Poke Mart and Fisherman marks show where each service is; Ctrl+Tab opens the full map. Basic Poké Balls and potions are bought from NPC shops (see NPC Trade).

To go from Kanto to Johto, fly over the water south of New Bark with a Pokémon that has Fly, or take the boat from Vermilion to Olivine.

How to catch a Pokémon

  1. Defeat the wild Pokémon.

  2. Use an empty Poké Ball on its body. The 250 Ultra Balls from the Starter Box are enough to get started.

  3. To throw faster: set the Ball action to “Smart Use” and its hotkey to “On Key Press”. Then you hold the key and throw as you move the mouse over the bodies.

Every Ball you throw counts as a broke, and not every Ball catches the same: some multiply more than others and the elemental ones work better against certain types. All of that is in Poké Balls.

Where to hunt for your level

The Hunt Finder in the top menu tells you which hunts fit your level and puts an arrow to the entrance (see Hunts). These are the Common hunts, level 1 to 150:

Common hunts by level
LevelHunts
1–15Rattata, Geodude, Oddish
15–30Diglett
20–50Magnemite, Voltorb
50–70Graveler, Parasect
50–100Dugtrio, Electrode, Pikachu
50–150Magneton

From level 150, Wildscape hunts start giving you experience: the ones with a skull on the minimap. Their Pokémon are stronger, drop more loot and more of them are Shiny. From then on you can level up in any Wildscape whose Pokémon you can defeat. Hoenn opens at level 250 with the Hoenn Access quest, and Primal hunts are for level 350 and up: there you hunt with a rotation of Pokémon.

Revives and healing

Which revive you can use depends on your player level: Revive up to 219 and Max Revive from 220. In Primal hunts neither works: only Technological Revive does. If you use a revive while the Pokémon is still standing, it restores all its HP and the cooldowns of its moves.

  • Up to level 219
  • From level 220, not in Primal
  • The only one in Primal

To avoid reviving one by one: drag the revive to the action bar, choose “Auto Revive” and give it a key by right-clicking the bar. Potions, Medicine and the other healing items: Health Items.
